Your Bio

Hello and thank you for visiting my digital portfolio. I began my photographic journey in 2003. This site was created in August 2006 and has been growing ever since. I currently use a Nikon D300, D70s, and D50. My lenses include Sigma 10-20, Sigma 175-500, and Tamron 18-200. The intent of my photography and this website is to share my view of the world through the eye of my camera and to remind viewers of their own memories, both those that were impromptu moments or once in a lifetime experiences. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at ScottKennedyPhotography@hotmail.com. I generally add new photos weekly as time permits. Thank you for joining me on this wonderful journey. I wish you all the best of luck in all your pursuits.

Digital downloads are now available for personal use. If you would like to be notified via e-mail of new photos as they are posted please e-mail me and I will add you to my list.
Thank you,
Scott

Copley Square, Boston Massachusetts : Copley Square is surrounded most notably by Trinity Church and the Boston Public Library. I have found that the easily accessible location of Copley Square provides a gathering point for many people and the events they organize. I try to check the square each time I photograph in the Back Bay to see what is being offered.

Fayette Historic Village, Garden Michigan : Fayette in the mid to late nineteenth century was a thriving town whose employment centered on the manufacture of charcoal pig iron. Today the town is supported by tourism as the only human inhabitants who call this place home are those who for a short time try to imagine themselves living at the time of this towns booming existence as a nationwide leader in the iron industry. Many including myself find Fayette's historic setting a wonderful place to spend a day. Cliffs surrounding the town provide unmatched views of Lake Michigan and the wildlife in the area abounds as can be seen by utilizing the vast network of trails that exist throughout the area. Many of the original buildings remain and have been restored to their former grandeur which provides an opportunity to imagine the day to day life of the people who created and maintained this town for so many years.

Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore, Michigan (Founded 1966) : The Pictured Rocks offers breath taking views of Lake Superior from it sandstone cliffs. The vast network of trails offers visitors the opportunity to explore what seems to be an endless expanse of forest, beach, and water. The boat rides offered in the city of Munising provide a wonderful opportunity to see waterfalls and the natural rock formations of the Lake Superior Shoreline. Another benefit of viewing the shoreline from a boat is the unobstructed view of the effects of minerals seeping from the rock faces of many of the formations which give Pictured Rocks its name. To experience Lake Superior of a calm day within Pictured Rocks is truly an appreciation of nature.

Mt. Tom Crawford Notch, New Hampshire : Climbing Mt. Tom was a wonderful experience. This was one of the first climbs of a 4k ( height 4051 ft) I had made under winter conditions. The temperature upon our summit of the mountain was 5 degrees above zero without considering the wind chill factor. Needless to say our stay upon the summit was rather short but it did provide enough time to capture a few images that I believe turned out quite well. What do you think?

Copley Square Peace Demonstration, Boston MA : A colorful group of people in both dress and personality chose to turn out for what was potentially a negative event. A dozen members of the FARK Organization chose to protest the appearance of members of the Fred Phelps Organization. The Fred Phelps Organization from what I have gathered is known to hold and promote very controversial views of society and its citizens. The Phelps entourage did not arrive at Copley Square but the members of FARK succeeded in entertaining the crowd. Overall the morning was quite nice and the lack of confrontation added to the entertainment value.

Head of Charles, Boston MA 2007 : The HOC race is an annual event in Boston that takes place in October and draws international competitors and spectators. It is the largest two day regatta in the world and provides many Bostonians the opportunity to spend a weekend showing thousands of spectators and other competitors the skills that had been honed throughout the year or years. The experience level of competitors range from Olympians to novice rowers and the opportunity to witness the skills of some of the world’s best rowers is apparent upon entering the Reunion Village. The regatta of 2007 was the first event I had the opportunity to attend and I look forward to many more.

Boston's Back Bay : The Back Bay offers a view of the some of the finest residential and commercial architecture in Boston. This area was once part of the nearby Charles River. The low laying areas were filled in to accommodate the city's expansion in the late 1800s. Commonwealth Avenue can be found within the Back Bay and begins at Boston Common. Commonwealth Ave provides a opportunity to walk through history as one strolls amongst the enormous statues that line its walkway. Also noteworthy streets within the Back Bay area include Newberry, Marlborough, Boylston, and Beacon which offer stately homes and unique shops.

Mt. Holy Cross, Colorado : Our summit of Mt. Holy Cross marked my first assent of a fourteen thousand foot peak (14,005). The views offered in this area are amazing and the difficulty of this summit was quite minimal. There is some scrambling required as you approach the summit but the most difficult aspect I found was summiting a little too quickly and finding myself feeling ill after resting near the pin marking the highest point of the mountain. This was quickly remedied by descending to about twelve thousand feet. This began a desire to conquer many more 14k plus peaks.

Doane's Falls, Royalston, Massachusetts : Doane's Falls have a total drop of approximately 175 feet and are located in North West Massachusetts. The entire region in which the falls are located is quite beautiful as it is comprised of mostly small towns. When I visited Lawrence Brook which feeds the falls was quite high and the sound of the falls was rather loud. I found that it was quite easy to sit next to the falls and become lost in the wonders of the natural environment.

There are several waterfalls within the park some of which can be accessed by traveling over forested trails. This park offers visitors the opportunity to see the effects of glaciations first hand as many of the formations within the park were created by the movement of glaciers thousands of years ago. This region also offers hiking opportunities on the Appalachian trial and visiting area many area waterfalls.

Old North Bridge, Concord Massachusetts : The Old North Bridge was made famous on April 19 1775 during the battle of Lexington and Concord. The bridge crossing the Concord river stood witness to the "shot heard around the world" when Minute Men and militia stood and fell in battle on the first day of the American Revolution against the British Light Infantry Brigade that sought to put down the uprising and ultimately the colonists bid for independence. The park is very nice and offers a visitors center which has on display remnants of the original bridge that played such an important role in Americas history. Also nearby is the Old Manse which was the home of Reverend William Emerson; the grandfather of Ralph Waldo Emerson. The home was also occupied by Nathaniel Hawthorne the famous American author. This is definitely a park worth visiting.

Boston Common (Boston Public Garden Est. (1837), Boston, Massachusetts : The 24 acres that make up the Boston Common (Boston Public Garden) encompasses a great variety of opportunities for a individual, or the whole family. The Swan boats which offer the opportunity to enjoy a small portion of the Common from the water provide enjoyment to a countless many every year. The dog park, softball fields, Frog pond, and the historical statues will keep one exploring for hours. The Frog Pond which is used as a wading pool during the summer and a ice skating ring during the winter has no shortage of visitors. The gardens offer a great variety of flowers and these are the subject of many of my photos. I enjoy visiting "The Common" on a regular basis and look forward to continuing to do so for a long time.
